The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award operates in over 100 countries worldwide with more than 150 Licensed Operators and around 6 900 young people currently doing their award in Queensland. The State Award Office is located in the Office for Youth, but the delivery of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award program relies significantly on the dedication and commitment of volunteers.

Who can participate?

The award program is for young people aged between 14 and 25 years.

If you aren't 14 or not able to do The Duke of Edinburgh's Award for any reason you can do The Bridge Award. The Bridge Award is an introduction to The Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

What do you get out of it?

The awards are a great way to:

  • try new things
  • hang out with friends
  • get active
  • help out the community
  • build on your life skills
  • make a difference
  • challenge yourself
  • get recognised.

What do you do?

You design your own program, set your own goals, work at your own pace to achieve an award by meeting the minimum requirements.

There are three awards Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Each level has four sections:

  • service
  • skills
  • physical recreation
  • adventurous journey.

At gold there is an additional section called a Residential Project.
