Youth Week 2008 was celebrated from 5-13 April 08. With over 150 events across the state registered on Generate's events calendar, young people were involved in a huge range of activities including sporting events, performances and festivals in all parts of Queensland.
Youth Week 2008 was more accessible than ever for young Queenslanders with an online competition that allowed young people from anywhere in Queensland to get online and share their ideas and opinions. Check out the gallery to see what young Queenslanders have to say!
Winners of the online competition will be announced in June.
A group of young filmmakers were supported by the Office for Youth to film several Youth Week 2008 events and will be launching their DVD Youth Week from a Youth Perspective at the Young Filmmakers Festival Queensland in September 2008. Youth Week in 2009 will be held from 28 March 5 April 09. Grant funding for 2009 events will be advertised in the coming months so keep your eye on the Youth Week Grants section of this site if you want to apply for funding for your event in 2009. If you have any suggestions/ideas about how Youth Week should be planned, organised or managed in 2009, please go to the Generate forum and chat with Brad Fuller, Queensland's Young Member for Youth Week in 2008 and 2009. Brad would love your help and advice in planning for next year's Youth Week in Queensland. What is Youth Week?
