Online competition

Terms and conditions of entry

  1. The Shout. Share. Live. Unite. Online Competition is open to residents of Queensland aged between 12 and 25 years on 30 April 2008.
  2. Information on how to enter and prize details form part of these conditions of entry.
  3. Submission of an entry is deemed acceptance of these conditions of entry.
  4. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding this, either during or after the competition.
  5. Entries become the property of the Queensland Government and may be used for promotional purposes around the state both during and after the competition.
  6. The competition will be judged against the 'judging criteria'. The decision of the judges selected by the Department is final and no feedback will be given as to the decision process.
  7. All entries must meet the thematic guidelines and be suitable for viewing by people of all ages. All entries will be moderated for suitable content before being entered into the competition, ie: before being available for online viewing.
  8. Submitted entries must be the original work of the entrant(s) and must have been completed after January 1, 2007.
  9. Where the entry includes images or audio of a person or people, it is the responsibility of the entrant to obtain written permission to use the images or audio of people appearing in his/her entry.
  10. To enter the Shout.Share.Live.Unite Online Competition, entrants must submit their entry via competition.generate.qld.gov.au by 5pm AEST Wednesday 30 April 2008.
  11. All entrants, or their parent, guardian or teacher, must complete the declaration of entrant form when uploading their entry.
  12. An individual or group can enter as many times as they wish however, they will only be eligible for one prize.
  13. Entries by schools or groups must nominate an individual or school as the prize recipient.
  14. To enter the junior competition you must be aged between 12 and 17 on 30 April 2008. To enter the senior competition you must be aged between 18 and 25 on 30 April 2008. For group entries, if any member is 18 or over on 30 April 2008 then it must be entered into the senior category. All group members must be aged 12 to 17 on 30 April 2008 to be eligible for the junior category.
  15. Entrants cannot be working professionally in the field in which they have submitted their entry.
  16. Entries can be submitted in a variety of mediums but some restrictions do apply:
    1. animation (maximum five minutes)
    2. audio (maximum five minutes)
    3. film (maximum 10 minutes)
    4. writing (maximum 2000 words)
  17. Employees of the Department of Communities and their immediate family and any other people involved with the administration and judging of the competition are not eligible to enter the competition.
  18. The entrant warrants that:
    1. all details provided in the entry are true and correct
    2. the entry submitted is the entrant's original work and does not infringe the rights (including copyright) of any other person
    3. where required, the entrant has obtained written permission to use the images or audio of people appearing in his/her entry
    4. the entrant agrees to indemnify the Department of Communities in relation to any loss or damage resulting from any breach of warranty.
  19. The entrant acknowledges and agrees, the submitted entry becomes the property of the Department. By entering the competition, the entrant consents to the Department of Communities reproducing, publishing or exhibiting his/her submitted entry without notice and without payment or attribution for government promotions. The entrant also consents to the Department of Communities reserving the right to use any entries for any related printed materials, website or exhibition. The entrant should also acknowledge that any material submitted will not be returned. It will be dealt with, as the Department decides in its sole discretion.
  20. Prize winners will be notified by mail, telephone or email as soon as reasonably possible following the determination of winners.

Privacy notice

The Department of Communities is collecting the information on this form to assess and administer your entry for the Shout. Share. Live. Unite. Online Competition. Your entry will not be eligible for the competition without this information. The department may disclose your personal information if legislation allows or requires this, or where you have given your permission.

The Department of Communities usually gives some or all of this information to the judging panel members. Where judging panel members are external to the Department of Communities they are required to protect your personal information and not disclose it without your permission.
