Where and when will the Young Indigenous Leaders Forum 2006 be held?

The forum will be held in Brisbane from Monday 24 July to Thursday 27 July 2006.

Who can apply?

You can apply if you are all of the following:

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
• aged 18 to 25 years
• a permanent resident of Queensland
• interested in discussing issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.

How will applicants be selected?

The Office for Youth (Department of Communities) will select applicants based on responses to the questions in the application form. The Office for Youth will select a balanced mix of participants based on gender, backgrounds and geographical location.

What will be required of successful applicants?

Successful applicants would:

• be committed to participating in the forum
• attend all components of the forum.

Who will pay?

The Office for Youth covers costs for young people to attend and participate in the forum, including accommodation and transport associated with the event. The Office for Youth will work with successful applicants to arrange travel and accommodation.

Can I nominate someone for the Young Indigenous Leaders Forum?

No, but if you know someone who has leadership potential and would be interested encourage and support them to apply.
