Get on board

The Queensland Government's Office for Youth runs an initiative called 'Get on board' to increase the number of young people (aged 18 to 25) on government decision-making bodies, such as advisory boards and committees. Becoming a member of a government board or committee is one of the best ways to ensure that young people's voices are heard when the government makes decisions.

The Queensland Youth Council is an example of what decision-making bodies are like, but there are hundreds more throughout Local and State government in Queensland, each with specific projects or dealing with diverse issues.

If you want to know more about how to get on a Queensland Government decision-making body check out how to Get on Board, and read all about boards and committees in the information we've put together for Generate, including:

Local Youth Councils are also closely related to decision-making boards and committees and further information on local government boards and committees may also be found through the Local Government Association of Queensland.
