The Australian Bureau of Statistics says around 10 per cent of Australia's carers are young people between 15 and 25 years. In 2005, the former State Youth Advisory Council was replaced by the new Queensland Youth Council. The State Youth Advisory Council operated in Queensland from 2000 to 2004 and is an excellent example of a successful state wide youth council.
