As a young Indigenous Queenslander, there are many doors open to you, as 19 young people from across Queensland discovered at the forum held at Parliament House on 5-7th September.

The Young Indigenous Leaders Forum is part of the Queensland Governments Reconciliation Action Plan, which aims to recognise and encourage successful reconciliation initiatives. The theme of the Forum in 2005 is Across Two Worlds, recognising the additional challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working within their own communities and the broader Queensland community.
The Young Indigenous Leaders Forum brought together ten young Indigenous men and nine young Indigenous women aged 18-25 years, representing a range of communities across Queensland to:

This year the forum was also expanded to Cape York, and a second forum was held in Cairns 16th September for young people from Deed Of Grant In Trust Communities, and based on the forums success future forums are planned for young Indigenous Queenslanders in 2006.
Copies of the Report of Proceedings were distributed to each young leader, regional CSO Youths, local government and the Minister responsible for Youth Affairs, outlining the successes and feedback from the forum.
