Brad Fuller, a Year 12 student at a South East Queensland High School, was selected for his role as Young Member for Queensland, our Youth Week representative, in July 2007 because of his dedication to celebrating young people's role in today's society and for his ability to speak on behalf of other young people. Brad has represented young people at his school on the Student Council, in Cleveland at the 2007 YMCA QLD Youth Parliament, and young people registered on the electoral rolls by raising issues of concern to the young people and communicating these issues to politicians.
Brad believes that "if Queensland wants responsible young people as role models for the future, events need to be organised to keep youth engaged in our community. Many studies have concluded that major causes of youth violence and juvenile crimes are a separation between youth and the rest of society caused by a declining number of activities for youth - and that is why it is important to keep youth engaged in activities." Brad is committed to his role of promoting Youth Week's many exciting events across the state.
Brad has agreed to continue in his role as Young Member in 2009. He has already started thinking about Youth Week 2009 so if you want to help him out, go onto Brad’s blog page and share your ideas with him.
